about me
Just four short years ago I learned how to ride a bike. My husband, Matthew, had been riding for some time and I decided that I wanted to give it a try. The first year was tough and I really struggled to become confident on the bike. My second year riding, we decided that we would train for the Shiner GASP, a century ride from Austin to Shiner Texas, after this (trying) ride I was hooked! The world is simply more beautiful on a bike and I haven't stopped riding since. Last September, Matthew signed up for an Ironman. I hadn't really thought much about triathlon but definitely saw that it was a growing sport in the world of cycling. I thought I'd give it a try and began training for my first sprint. I hated running (at first) and was super anxious in the pool, I wasn't sure I was cut out for this sport. Having already signed up for a race, I continued on. At the start of the race the announcer said, "all athletes please line up along the pool." It was really the first time I thought of myself as an athlete. I started this blog in September 2014, after deciding to sign up for my first Ironman 70.3 in New Orleans. This has been a place where I've been able to share my thoughts/joys/struggles as I embarked on that journey. Finishing my first 70.3 tops as one of the best experiences of my life. It was such a rush to accomplish a goal that I had worked on for months. I know that an Ironman 140.6 is in my future, some day.
When I'm not swimming, biking, running, I am being silly with Matthew, playing with our two cats and greyhound, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Join me as I continue on my road through life and triathlon.
